1. Cau Gie - Ninh Binh Expressway

 

The length of project is 50km, passing through Ha Noi, Nam Dinh, Ninh Binh.

 

The project was built under the expressway standards Class A with 4 lanes, 2 times of emergency stop with speed of 120km/h. The project was commenced dated 07 January 2006 and open traffic entire route on 30 June 2012, with total investment of VND 8,974 billion (USD 448 million), include directly invested under government is VND 4,784 billion (USD 239 million), capital mobilized by VEC is VND 4,190 billion (USD 209 million).

 

The Project construct 12 major bridges, including 08 bridges on main routes and 04 bridge on the crossroads, 09 intersections, including 03 traffic intersection, 05 intersection directly informed; 01 with interaction; 01 center operating highways, 05 toll plazas with intelligent systems (ITS), 01 stop station.

 

The importance and effectiveness of the project

 

The project is part of North-South Expressway project; it connects from Bac Giang through Ha Noi - to Ninh Binh and continues to Thanh Hoa then Vinh. The project contributes to increased transport capacity and creates opportunity connectivity with spiritual tourism destinations, scenic parks, historic sites and parks Architecture Art.

 

Since opened traffic, it serves more than 18 million CPU safely and efficient circulation, approximately 16,500 CPU/day. Each year rise by more than 5 million vehicles circulating on the roads. Saving 15% on transport simultaneously.

 

2. Noi Bai – Lao Cai Expressway

 

The total length of project is 245km passing through Ha Noi, Vinh Phuc, Phu Tho, Yen Bai, Lao Cai. The Project design standard is expressway class A. The section from Noi Bai to Yen Bai has 4 lanes and 2 emergency lanes, with the designed speed of 100km/h; and the section from Yen Bai to Lao Cai has 2 lanes and 2 emergency lanes with designed speed of 80km/h. The project Ground breaking ceremony was held on April 25th 2009 and put into operation on September 2014; with total investment of: 30,132 billion VND (1,464 million USD), including 8,359 billion VND (406.52 million USD) of State budget and 21,773 billion VND (1,057.45 million USD) of VEC’s mobilization source.

 

The project consists of a great deal of  large-volume construction items, including: 120 bridges (with 2 big bridges of Song Hong and Song Lo with 1.68km long and 16.5m wide); 01 mountain tunnel with 530m long, 9m high and 14m wide; 01 underpass (crossing National Highway 2) with 645m long; 12 graded interchanges, 13 toll stations, 05 service areas of 23ha.

 

The importance and effectiveness of Project

 

The project is of great significance as part of the Kunning - Hai Phong transport corridor under the cooperation program involving 6 Greater Mekong Sub-region countries (Vietnam, Lao, Cambodia, Thailand, Myanmar and China).

 

This expressway route generally serves not only for the development of social economic, national security but also for migration, resettlement, triggering for the movement of economic structure of ethnic people. Furthermore, this route also creates the connection among economic centers, industrial zones, tourism and entertainment in North.

 

Noi Bai-Lao Cai Expressway put into operation have brought up many positive effects, generating opportunities for socio-economic development for Northwest region, and reducing the travelling time from Ha Noi to Lao Cai by half (3,5 hours compared with 7 hours as before), saving 20-30% transportation cost. It is estimated that this saves about 1,800 billion VND/per year for the country.

 

Total traffic volume in Noi Bai – Lao Cai Expressway reached 4.4 million CPU, and 13,000 CPU/day of the average volume of traffic, and vehicle traffic growth 76%.

 

3. Ho Chi Minh City – Long Thanh - Dau Giay (HLD) Expressway

 

The total length of project is 55km passing over Ho Chi Minh City and Dong Nai province divided into 02 parts as: Part I - An Phu – Ring road II; Part II - Ring road II – Long Thanh – Dau Giay: 4 lanes, 2 emergency lanes with designed speed of 100-120km/h. The project commencement day is on  October 03rd 2009 and has been put into operation in February 2015; Total investment: 20,630 billion VND (981 million USD), including 15,147 billion VND (720 million USD) of State budget, and 5,483 billion VND (261 million USD) of VEC’s mobilization source.

 

The project includes many large-volume items constructed in complex geological and hydrological conditions: 32 bridges (17.5km). Especially, Long Thanh overpass crossing Dong Nai River is among hugest bridges in Vietnam with 2.35km long, cast-in-place box girder structure and ship clearance 30.5m height. The Project includes 04 interchanges, especially interchange of Ring road No.2 with 12km road and 4km bridge, 01 operating center with ITS; 03 toll stations, 01 service area.

 

The importance and effectiveness of Project

 

Ho Chi Minh City – Long Thanh – Dau Giay Project is a part of the North – South Expressway, located in the Southern Focal Economic Area, which is one of the most dynamic regions and make the greatest contribution to the national economy. The Project will reduce the travel time from Ho Chi Minh city and Mekong River Delta provinces to Vung Tau, National Highway No.1 and Central Highland. The Expressway is the key factor to promote the potential of tourism and entertainment; create the connectivity among the industrial zones, ports and airports, and enhance socio-economic development of the provinces in the region.

 

The Expressway put into operation have reduced the travelling route by 20km and the traveling time just for about 01 hour (faster by 02 hours than before). Currently, the Expressway has served 4.5 million traffic flows, approximately 15,000 CPU/day.  The route helps to save 30% transportation cost and brings social benefit estimated at more than 3,130 billion/year.
